EXHIBITS:

  • “Portrait of India” (three concurrent exhibits, July 9 - 30) - The Manor Inn, Wilson Museum, Union Trust Company

  • “Miniature House” - A Creation of Margaret Meyer

GRAVESTONE SERIES:

  • Every Thursday, June 20 - September 26 from 10:30 a.m. until noon - Castine Town Cemetery. Volunteers at work gathering data - Stop by to watch - to learn - or to join in.
  • Saturday June 15 - “Etched in Stone: Castine Town Cemetery - Its Place in U. S. Cemetery History”- 3 p.m. Slide Presentation with speaker Barbara Rotundo of New Hampshire. Current President of the Association for Gravestone Studies, Massachusetts.
  • Thursday June 20 - Making Gravestone Rubbings - Dos and Don’ts - 10:30 - Noon.
    Castine Town Cemetery with Deborah Belyea of Penobscot.
  • Saturday Aug. 10 - “Understanding New England Gravestones and the Stories They Tell” - 3 p.m. Slide Presentation with speaker Laurel Gabel of Cape Cod. Researcher, Author, and AGS Forbes Award winner in gravestone studies.

  • Thursday June 13 Annual Meeting of the Castine Art Association - 5 - 7 p.m. Hosted by the Museum - New membership welcome. Reservations (207)326-9695.
  • Saturday June 29 Annual Meeting of the Eastern State Normal School Alumni - Registration 10:30 a.m. Hosted by the Museum - Pre-registration required for luncheon.(207) 326-9247. Note summer exhibit above: additional items will be on view this day.
  • Saturday July 13 Street Orienteering with Anne Dentino of Orienteering Maine. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Course Instructions at Wilson Museum. Pre-Registration (207) 359-8900. Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Groups.
  • Wednesday July 24 Yankee Brass Band - A 28-member band to perform on Castine Town Common - 7 p.m. The Band’s Civil War Period Instruments will be shown at the Museum 2-5 p.m.
  • Saturday July 27 “Portraits of India” - 3 p.m. Slide presentation with photographer Kerry Kehoe of New York. Kehoe’s work shown in three locations, July 9 - 30. Note above.
  • Thursday Aug. 15 Reader’s Theatre - Featuring “The Crain Sisters” - 2:30 p.m. Workshop designed for children and for those who work with children. Pre-Registration appreciated: (207) 326-9247.
