Community Picnic and Living History

Celebrate community through food at the Wilson Museum’s community picnic on Sunday, August 28.

Sharing food is a multi-sensory way to connect with history and one another. We will be baking fresh bread in the outdoor bake oven and cooking beans in the bean hole for everyone to sample. We invite you to bring a personal picnic to enjoy and a baked good to share pot-luck style.

For an extra special treat, the Darling’s Ice Cream Truck will be handing out a selection of frozen treats with proceeds to benefit youth programs at the Wilson Museum.

The cherry on top will be Scott Cleveland performing original and reinterpreted Jazz/R&B/Blues/Fusion/Rock as a solo pianist and singer. Copies of Scott’s solo piano albums, one of which was recorded in Castine, will be available for purchase with 50% of the proceeds going to benefit the Wilson Museum’s programming.

Visitors can also enjoy the museum’s Living History activities (blacksmithing, woodworking, and tours of the Perkins House) on the museum campus between 2 and 5 pm. Activities are free of charge apart from Perkins House tours which are $5 per visitor.

The Community Picnic and Living History at the Wilson Museum is made possible through the generous support of Camden National Bank.
