Shell Trace Fossil Ornaments

Make your own type of trace fossil ornament at the Holiday Open House!

Kick off your holiday season with the Castine Historical Society and the Wilson Museum as we co-host a free Holiday Open House filled with festive activities for visitors of all ages! Enjoy a special behind-the-scenes tour of the 1850 Grindle House, including sneak peeks into collections storage at the historical society, and take advantage of a unique holiday shopping experience. Also stop by the Wilson Museum campus to make an impressive trace fossil ornament inspired by natural objects in the museum’s collection. Light refreshments and outdoor fires will be available at both locations. Those who visit both sites and participate in the raffle will be entered to win a fun gift basket filled with gift shop items from both institutions!

Visitors are encouraged to bring healthy non-perishable food items to either site for a donation to H.O.M.E., Inc. of Orland – an organization “serving first those who suffer most.”

This event takes place at the Castine Historical Society’s Grindle House (13 School Street) on the Town Common and in the Hutchins Education Center (112 Perkins Street) on the Wilson Museum campus.

COVID precautions are recommended based on the CDC’s Community Level for Hancock County. For questions, please call either the Castine Historical Society (207-326-4118) or the Wilson Museum (207-326-9247). Happy Holidays!
