Kick off the holiday season by going between these two institutions to enjoy light refreshments, holiday decorations, and craft making. Visit both sites and be entered to win a fun gift basket filled with gift shop items from both institutions!
At the Wilson Museum guests can make a holiday ornament inspired by the wide variety of textiles in the museum’s collection, created across time, places, and cultures. There will also be a fire pit to roast marshmallows for s’mores (weather permitting). The Castine Historical Society will be giving special behind-the-scenes tours of the 1850 Grindle House decorated for the holidays and sneak peek tours of collections storage. On display will be many new recently donated collection items. Also offered will be a unique holiday shopping experience for those wanting to kick-start their gift giving.
Visitors are encouraged to bring healthy non-perishable food items to either site for a donation to H.O.M.E., Inc. of Orland – an organization “serving first those who suffer most.”
This event takes place at the Castine Historical Society’s Grindle House (13 School Street) on the Town Common and in the Hutchins Education Center (112 Perkins Street) on the Wilson Museum campus.
