Visitors enjoy seeing the vibrant quillwork baskets made by Native artists displayed in the Wilson Museum gallery. Come learn about the intricate art of quill-working with Mi’kmaq artist Jennifer Pictou at this free hybrid program.

About the Presenter

Jennifer Pictou is a traditional Storyteller, Glass Artist, and a consultant specializing in museums and cultural tourism.

Jennifer has worked for several of the country’s largest niche museums to develop educational content, streamline tour procedures, and spearhead publication material from established historic collections.

Jennifer is a co-developer of an indigenous veteran installation at the Mi’kmaq Nation, a founding member of a tribal group rediscovering and practicing the art of Mi’kmaq porcupine quillwork, and lead curator of the Mi’kmaq Quillwork exhibit Stitching Ourselves Together at the Abbe Museum. Jennifer has also developed her own tour company (Bar Harbor Ghost Tours) specializing in cross-cultural ghost tours that has been ranked consistently among the best ghost tours in the U.S. as well as being awarded Ghost Tour Company of the Year 2023.

Jennifer holds a master’s degree in American and New England Studies from the University of Southern Maine.
