Sarah O’Malley

Ocean Studies Professor
Maine Maritime Academy

If you’re in coastal Maine, chances are you enjoy going to the beach. But what do you know about the shells and organisms you are seeing there? On Thursday, June 29, expand your knowledge and improve your beach walking experience when Sarah O’Malley, an Ocean Studies professor at Maine Maritime Academy, compares local shells with shells from afar in the Wilson Museum collection. The presentation will be held in the museum’s Hutchins Education Center (1:00 to 2:00 PM).

Following the presentation, test your new knowledge on an optional beach walk along the museum’s waterfront (2:00 – 2:30 PM). Beach walk participants must be able to descend and ascend a rocky shore and safely walk along a rocky and potentially wet beach.

This presentation is free of charge and open to in-person attendance.

The program is part of the Wilson Museum’s program series Connecting to Collections: Curiosity, Culture, Climate made possible through the generous support of Bangor Savings Bank.
